A Life Rooted in Adventure and Work Ethic
Growing Up in Upstate New York
I was born and raised in good ol' Upstate New York, where my childhood was a tapestry of outdoor adventures. I spent countless hours fishing, climbing trees, and riding bikes, all under the expansive sky. My formative years were largely spent on my grandfather Vern’s farm. Vern, the second-generation owner of our family masonry business, was more than just a role model; he was the embodiment of dedication and hard work. From the age of 12, I worked alongside him, learning the ropes of the family trade. Even today, when I return home, you can find me bailing hay with the family. This is where my work ethic was born.
The Essence of Work and Play
Speaking of work ethic, there is a quote I live by, one that sits on my desk and guides me daily:
"The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he's always doing both."
— James A. Michener
Embracing Adventure
I am an adventurer at heart, always eager to take on new challenges. I believe in learning from everyone and every situation. Whether it's summiting Mount Whitney once again or embarking on a journey to a foreign country, each experience and every person I meet leaves an indelible mark, shaping who I am.
Family and Nature
Our family finds joy hanging in hammocks, listening to music and the rhythmic crash of waves. We relish the thrill of catching golden trout in the Eastern Sierra, chasing storms, and climbing mountains, only to find the most exhilarating way down. Our energetic spirits are deeply rooted in the great outdoors.
Raising the Next Generation
Our son Ryder, at just eight years old, is already a reflection of both natural talent and deep compassion. He joins us on the slopes, backpacking the high peaks of Southern California, and climbing in Joshua Tree. Ryder drives, challenges, and teaches me in ways I never imagined. We couldn't be prouder of the person he is becoming.
Living the Dream
Today, I am living my dream. I have the privilege of designing products I love while watching my family flourish. I am surrounded by talented professionals, a loving family, and our two French Bulldogs, Roxy and Zoey, who are never far from my side. Life in San Diego is a dream come true, fueled by the incredible people who fill my days with inspiration and joy.
